This article outlines the payment process for patients who are out-of-province. This fee applies to patients with health cards who are out-of-province.

The patient's out-of-province status is based on the patient's province in the EMR and the clinic's province. If they do not match, then the patient is considered out-of-province.

This fee is charged during the appointment booking process.

When an out-of-province patient goes through the booking process, the patient will be prompted to pay the amount configured in the admin.

In the current version of Cortico, this fee does not stack with the Private Patient Fee. It will have a higher priority over Private Patient Fee.

Booking flow

Out-of-province patients are identified in step 1 by their health card number, based on what is in your EMR system. If they are a new patient, it is based on what province they select for "health card province".

In Step 2: Patient Information, out-of-province patients are notified of the fee.

In Step 4: Additional information, patients must enter their billing information before booking the appointment. The patient is charged when the appointment is booked.
