The "allow multiple future appointments" config allows you to restrict whether patients are allowed to book multiple upcoming appointments. When this config is enabled, patients are allowed to book an unlimited number of upcoming appointments (with some restrictions on multiple appointments on the same day, as described below).

When this config is disabled, the following rules apply:

  1. The patient can book one primary care appointment.
  2. In addition, the patient can book one specialist appointment in each specialist workflow available to the clinic. (e.g. A patient may have three upcoming appointments: one primary care appointment, one podiatrist appointment, and one counselling appointment at the same clinic.)

In addition, when "allow multiple future appointments" is enabled, the following rules apply for booking multiple appointments on the same day:

  1. Patients can't book multiple appointments in one day with the same doctor/specialist, regardless of workflow.
  2. Patients can book multiple appointments with different doctors/specialists in one day (but not in the same workflow and one workflow must be a specialist workflow).
  3. Patients can't book multiple appointments with different doctors in primary care workflows in one day.
  4. Patients can't book multiple appointments across family doctor or walk-in workflows (e.g. patients can't book one family doctor and one walk-in appointment in the same day).
  5. Patients can book one family doctor and multiple specialist appointments (one per workflow) in one day, as long as they are with different doctors/specialists.
