Troubleshooting

Known Oscar Issues

Some persistent bugs known in Oscar

Updated 15 mins ago

[OscarPro]

New Patient Registration with "X" as Sex (on your Care Card):

OscarPro now accepts "X" as the inputted Sex for new patients when they Register through Cortico, however, if the Patient Master File is edited, the Sex field becomes blank and will need to be filled in again before saving the file (this should only occur the first time).

Consultation Page Crash:

OscarPro is known to crash when documents are attached to a consultation, if they were created without an Observation Date. Be sure to include an Observation date when creating documents.

"Consent to use email" status automatically changes to Unknown:

When updating a patient's demographic, there are certain limitations of which users should be aware. One is that OscarPro automatically changes the "consent to use email or phone" status from its current value to Unknown. The system does not allow writing to those fields, rendering the values we send null, and making it interpreted as unknown.

While this is an issue to be escalated to OscarPRO support, Cortico uses our plug-in feature within the EMR to track the patient's preferences for email and phone communication.

EMR Resources Field Not Updating "Medium" and "Workflow Type"

When patients book directly through Cortico, the Resources field in your clinic's EMR should automatically update indicating which medium (i.e. clinic, phone, etc.) and workflow (i.e. Family Doctor, Walk-in appointment, etc.) the patient had booked. However, we've had a few clinics experience this issue where this does not happen, even when patients book directly with Cortico:

What causes this to happen is the EMR will forcefully input the appointment number in the resources field, which will remove anything else (medium and workflow). This will also prevent the appointment from showing up on the patient's appointment page on their patient profile and the confirmation email:

We ask that you contact your OscarPro provider to change the configuration so that the appointment number is not added to the resources field. Please explain the situation (i.e. "Our patients are not being notified of their appointments") and provide any screenshots necessary for Oscar.

[OpenOSP and JUNO]

When updating the start time of an appointment, if you click "Update & Receipt", the appointment's end time does not update and stays the same. This may also happen intermittently when only clicking "Update Appt" after changing the appointment start time.

Because the hidden end_time value does not update properly, the appointment duration can either stay the same, or have incorrect value (0 or negative min) . If it is negative, the appointment may be no longer be visible on the schedule and must be found through the patient's appointment history. JUNO is known to put to patch to prevent it from disappearing from the doctor's schedule.

The best practice to avoid this bug is to cut/paste the appointment rather than editing the start time.
